Be Creative every day!!

Creativity is really important in our lives.  It can do a lot of things for us.  It keeps your mind sharp, and it can really lift your spirits, so find a way every day to create something.  Now I know what you're thinking..I'm not into crafts or I don't like to do crafts.  Okay, you don't have to.
*Doodle something while you're on the phone or watching tv.
*Did you go to a new restaurant recently? Go to Yelp.com, or another site, maybe Yahoo and write a review.
*Change up a recipe a little.  I don't recommend bananas in a casserole or anything, but make some cookies and decorate them, or cupcakes.
*sing a song (NOT for everyone, wouldn't want some to get in trouble for disturbing the peace.)
*There are loads of free apps for editing pictures or creating collages.  Download one and have fun with the pictures on your camera.  Some provide effects like making pictures look old fashioned or black and white with certain features in color.
*Start a blog. This one was easy.  There are a lot of blogging sites and you can blog about anything.
*find a new way to wear a piece of jewelry or a scarf.
*rearrange your furniture, or even just move one piece.
*actually make something..that's right...do a craft...it won't kill ya.
*rearrange pictures on your coffee table or a wall.
*write a letter and decorate the envelope or stationary.  You can draw little flowers or spacemen or anything down the side...Bam..you've been creative. Job done.
Have fun with it.  I'm done now..

Yarn Well Travelled

Well, it's May 1st.  I got a gift card from my parents for my birthday early in April.  I hadn't really done much with it.  I've joined a couple crochet groups on FB,  mainly for inspiration.  I've noticed people posting these ginourmous lots of yarn they got cheap by ordering online.

While I need a ginourmous lot of yarn like I need a hole in my head, I decided a few more skeins would be okay.  So found a site called KnittingWarehouse.com.  I ventured around the site and found some Sugar and Cream yarn at a pretty good sale price. WHile the price was the same as I've paid in stores, the amount of yarn in each bundle was more than double the normal amount.

So I was getting a good deal.  I ordered three, one a strawberry combination,, one a combo of basic crayon colors, and the other a combo of browns and pinks.  I like variegated yarns.  It changes color for me and makes interesting patterns. How is that not a good plan??

Well, my interest is high and my patience is low, so I've been tracking this stuff like my normal freak of nature self.  (I said normal?? Normal for me..it's a whole different thing than NORMAL)  So, this yarn started out in Grand Rapids, MI.  That's about three hours from where I live.  I always thought it was five or six hours away.  I learned on a trip this last fall with my bestie Laura and her daughter Camryn that it's only a few hours away.  Whatever. I'm geographically challenged.

Then it was sent to Des Plaines, IL.  I'm perplexed.  To me the simple plan would to put the yarn in a box, put the box in a truck and deliver it to Perrysburg, 3 hours away.  But to DHL, the plan is take the box of yarn, scan it in GR,, MI, then take it on a ride to somewhere around Chicago I guess. I hope it caught a Bulls game or got a good pizza.

I expected it today, and asked one of my neighbors to sign for it it if need be.  Well, no need for that. My yarn is in Hebron, Kentucky, which is about 3 hours SOUTH of where I live.  So,, the yarn can be 3 hours north, and then three hours south before it actually gets to  me, and who knows, it's probably going to go a few hours east too, so maybe I need to find out where that is.

I get it now, my yarn is making a diamond around me.  We're playing baseball?? I don't do baseball.  I want my yarn.

Okay...well. I hope you've enjoyed my yarn of travelling yarn.  Have a great day and peace out.

Sausage Dip

I found this on Pinterest.  It looked so delicious I had to try it.  Now the original recipe called for it to be microwaved until cooked. This girl is too busy to be chained to the nuker like that so I went the crockpot route!!
Step one was to brown two packages of sausage. I used sweet Italian from Krogers.  Once brown I put it in the crock pot.
Next up, i added the two bricks of cream
cheese.  I used lower fat but not fat free so it would melt.
Finally i dumped in about 3/4 of a large jar of salsa.
I turned the crockpot on high and we'll see how it all comes out in 2-3 hours.

Just Read It!!!

So, once again, I'm behind on the blogging.  I can't keep up on a regular basis so these will pop up as I think of them.  I actually do have some pics for a step by step on my camera, so as soon as I upload those, we're good to go.  I believe it's my steps for crock pot applesauce so maybe I should wait until fall for that one.

I think I missed my calling in life.  I followed a lot of the Otsego basketball games on Facebook as much as I could and until my battery pooped out on me, which was usually shortly into the third quarter.  Sorry people..I had to take pictures and videos too.  It ate some some battery up. Thank you by the way to Molly soon to be Getz Limes.  She showed me how to get my applications closed and that would save battery power.  Huh..who knew..well, obviously Molly, and not me.  Anyway, I didn't go to the game against Rossford on Friday because I was rather worked up about getting caught driving on icy roads if the temps dropped, which tends to happen at night when the sun goes down.  It can't be fun to be wrapped around a tree.  So, around 8:30 or nine, a good friend from high school sent me a message that she missed my posting about the game.  So, I sent a message back and said I hadn't gone to the game.  She wondered if I was okay.  I'm starting to think I should find other Friday night activities.  But that wouldn't be half as fun as following my younger cousins in their activities...A.C. and Cody, now.  Great boys, great athletes.  Cody "Touch" Downs, it's all you next year.

Last night I stumbled on an episode of Worst Cooks in America on the Food Network.  Now, if you look at this in the right way, it's a serious cooking show that teaches people who can't cook how to cook.  Then, there's my way, and it's totally funny.  You'd have to go back on my Facebook and catch the whole thing.  To sum it up, one guy took the lid off his initial dish and it gagged him.  He wasn't off to a good start.  Then the first challenge was to make something else for the judges.  Bobby Flay walked up and asked what he was making and it was taco meat, cheddar...cheese (he clarified because apparently he thinks other things are cheddar flavored) ,  and on top...ketchup. (Salsa has been the leading condiment since the late 80's but okay..go for ketchup).   Then there was Carla.  Carla is crazy for Bobby Flay.  Her hormones were raging, and I've never seen a woman act like she did before.  But her cooking skills, well...yikes.  Another guy, Michael..he made a celery omlette, with celery sauce and celery for a garnish for his initial dish, but he recovered on his second shot.  I just don't remember what he made.  Another lady, Diana literally cried when they took the microwaves out of the kitchen.

Well, I was "commentating" all that and having a good time, and lots of laughs with my friends.

I'm addicted to Pinterest...I have close to 90 boards.  Talk about over the top.  Oh well..it's all for fun.  I even created a board for stuff I don't like...Ew..no thanks, is the name of that one.   Yep..if there's Pinterest Rehab, sign me up.  But I'll have to go several times.

That is all for now.  If you have any ideas, let me know.

Okay, it's been awhile since I've posted something new..had the fair, and a birthday party.  Now, it's time for  a new post.  I did something fairly simple this time.

MEXICAN PIZZA

Start with a tortilla for the crust. I used a whole wheat tortilla.

Next, top with a layer of sauce. I used red enchilada sauce.  It was nice and spicy.

I added some medium salsa.

I then added some taco seasoned ground beef.  If you want to go for the health factor, use ground turkey or chicken instead.   I also added some whole kernel corn.

Cheese on top!!!  Of course..I used Kraft Queso blend.

Bake at 400 degrees for about 6 minutes.

Don't be afraid to add your favorites..black olives, green onions, jalepenos, anything you like.  I just used what I had handy.

Ole everyone...:)

Apple Snickers Salad

Core and chop three large Granny Smith apples

Chop and add six regular size (3 King size or 12 minis) Snickers bars
You need a very durable knife, it's not a job for the young cooks!!

In a separate LARGER bowl (You'll see why) mix one small box of vanilla pudding and
one cup of milk.

Mix in a large (16 oz) tub of Cool Whip!!

Stir in the apples and Snickers, which is why you need a bigger bowl!!
Apple overboard!!

And this is what you get!!!  Yum!!!

This worked!!  I was a little nervous but it was a lot easier than I expected.   The Snickers and apples are a good combination.  I am not sure why this is called a salad though, unless it's just to make the eaters feel better about chowing it like crazy!!!

This is my first blog post.  If you have comments or suggestions for future blogs, please leave them!!

Toodles!!!

Jeeter out!!
